One 6. Punk As A Doornail first flogged the punk horse in 1999 after the creation of their signature skateboard-guitar called the skatar. As they continued sucking for cash, more homemade instruments followed. The first complementary instrument to the skatar was the one-string baseball bat. The better to flog it with. Then followed the shitstick, the briefcase and the snow shovel. They first set out to annoy people, but have settled on entertaining. They enjoy making people laugh and love being a mockery to anything close to being serious. They are currently trying to record a studio album, but are running into delays because they're trying to do it like a band that has songs and rehearsals. The track offered for this compilation is a sample of that project. 7. If you want to rip us off, go ahead. If you could think for yourself, you wouldn't bother stealing our tripe. Info on artist: Mek's musical curriculum maybe starts on Southern-Tirolean wedding-celebrations as a three year old kid, by dancing with his sister while all the adults where drunk. With the age of 10 he went to a monastery school, where he sang in the church-choir, later as alt-solist. He started to play flute and piano. Later he added guitars (he still can't play this strange instrument), all kinds of percussions, bagpipes and accordeon. At the age of sixteen or so he sang and played with several bands, doing punk and similar things. In Holland he tried to make music somewhere between Kafka and Audrie Hepburn, but lost interest in musicians and guitarists. Many years later in Madrid he bought a synthesizer, and made three songs. One of them is the one included on this CD. He now lives in Hamburg and is currently looking for musicians to continue, as it makes quite some fun... Track info: 'Balla con me' is a wals in bourdon-style. This means, it is only on a single base-tone. G-major. This limited way like a bagpipe is forced to play. This kind of music was very common in the middleages where there were no instruments who could play more than one voice at the same time. Only the bagpipe could do this, but was restricted to a single ground-note. The whole song is a rythmic and jumping G-major, with every 30 seconds a new instrument or sound being added playing in G-major, and only the voice 'playing' the melody. The song is like a 'multivocal' bagpipe. 7. (C) MEK 8. 9. www.mequito.org Mirwais57 --------- 1. 57^13 2. HLA! 3. Adam Holman-Programming/writing 4. mirwais57 5. Both 6. PARKING NON-STOP is a psychogeographical artistic and musical collective, based in North Wales and comprising three permanent members: poet / writer / conceptualist ZOE SKOULDING composer / arranger / musician DEWI EVANS cultural catalyst / sound & visual artist ALAN HOLMES (If too much don't use the rest of this per Parkingnonstop) Since 1999, Parking Non-Stop have amassed a body of ongoing work that explores the sonic geography of a wider Europe within the context of their native North Wales (and vice versa). The main focus of this work is a series of musical pieces that integrate field recordings made by the collective in various, mainly European locations with recordings made in their own home studio. These pieces generally combine an experimental soundscape approach with a europop aesthetic. One aim is to achieve a truly indigenous Welsh sound that is non-parochial and based very much in the present rather than a mythical past whilst unearthing hitherto undiscovered temporal and spatial resonances. "Landscape Through Trees" (Evans/Holmes/Skoulding) was recorded on New Year's Day 2003 underneath the Britannia Bridge at Llanfairpwllgwygyllgorerwchwyndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, with additional recordings on August 3rd 2003 in Warsaw, Poland, on August 27th 2002 in Buda Labyrinth, Budapest, Hungary and at PN-S studio, Menai Bridge, North Wales. 7. © 2003 Parking Non-Stop 8. 6 Hill Street, Menai Bridge, Anglesey.
